Background

The Student Travel Grant is available to international students commencing a coursework, Study Abroad, or graduate research degree who are affected by increased travel costs to Australia due to recent global events.

Before you apply for this grant you must have already arrived in Australia and enrolled in your course subjects for semester 2 2026.

To be eligible for the grant you must be commencing your course at The University of Melbourne between a 1 June 2026 and 31 August 2026, and you must have purchased flights to Australia on or after 1 March 2026 and before 31 August 2026.

You will be asked to provide the following supporting documents:

Proof of recent purchase to travel to Australia such as:

  • Flight purchase
  • Flight booking
  • Travel agent booking

Proof of recent arrival in Australia such as:

  • Boarding pass
  • Smart gate arrival ticket
  • Current VEVO status check
